"Two Breaths" — Woven Wire Mesh Wall Sculpture

Two Breaths is a hand-woven wall sculpture made of two soft organic volumes — one darker, one lighter — that meet along an undulating edge as though shaped to fit one another. The forms suggest cells, seed pods or droplets caught at the moment of merging; they offer no clear sense of scale, which draws the eye in and holds it. The entire surface is built from fine wire, loop by loop, using a hand-weaving technique close to knitting — many hours of work in which every stitch is made by the artist's own hands, with no machines and no moulds.

The mesh structure makes the object almost weightless and semi-transparent: light passes straight through the shell, and a second, softer drawing appears in shadow on the wall behind. Depending on the lighting, the volumes read as dense and material one moment, and as fleeting as smoke the next. The piece suits bright, calm interiors — above a sofa, in a hallway, in a gallery, hotel or office space. Hand-crafted as a one-off; slight irregularities in the weave and the density of the mesh are a natural feature of handmade work and underline its uniqueness.
