"Spindle" — Hanging Woven Wire Mesh Sculpture

Spindle is a hand-woven hanging sculpture with a slender vertical form built from a sequence of gently swelling and narrowing volumes — an elongated point at the top, a rhythm of rounded bulbs and rings through the middle, and a long teardrop silhouette below. The structure is made from fine wire, loop by loop, using a hand-weaving technique close to knitting, with no moulds and no machines. Inside the outer shell a second, smaller form is concealed, its outline showing through the mesh like a shadow or a core — giving the object unexpected depth and the look of being built from layers.

The sculpture is almost weightless and entirely semi-transparent: light passes straight through it, and a second soft drawing appears in shadow on the wall, shifting across the course of the day. The form responds gently to moving air, so it never looks quite static. It is ideal for tall, bright interiors — a stairwell, an entrance hall, a glazed living room, a hotel lobby or a gallery space. Entirely hand-crafted over many hours; slight irregularities in the weave and the density of the mesh are a natural feature of handmade work and make every piece unrepeatable.
