"Golden Thread" — Ceramic Torso Sculpture on Steel Base

Golden Thread is a hand-formed sculpture of a simplified, fragmentary torso — a shape deliberately left unfinished, with raw broken edges, as though it were a recovered piece of something larger. The surface is covered in a deep black glaze with a mirror-like sheen, across which run fine pale lines: a drawing applied by hand that resolves into barely legible faces and figures. A white-and-gold sash crosses the form: an irregular band of white cut through by a raised golden line that reads like a healed fracture. The piece is mounted on a slender steel rod set into a square patinated base.

The work carries a strong emotional charge — about memory, trace, and the repair of what has been broken. The contrast of black, white and gold is dramatic, yet the form stays simple enough that the sculpture never overwhelms a room. It looks its best against a pale wall, in a gallery, a study, an entrance hall, or as a single accent on a console table. Entirely hand-crafted: the forming, glazing, firing and gilding are all carried out by the artist personally, so the path of the lines, the flow of the glaze and the pattern of fractures are unrepeatable in every piece.
