"Dune" — Black Abstract Sculpture with Openings

Dune is a handmade sculpture with a low horizontal volume that recalls a wind-carved rock or a wave of sand set solid. Its soft undulating upper edge falls away in a gentle arc to the right, while two openings — one oval, one triangular — pierce the interior, letting space into the block so the mass begins to breathe. The composition is entirely abstract yet organic: there are no sharp angles and no mechanical symmetry, only a rhythm of curves that carries the eye from one edge to the other.

The whole surface is finished in deep matte black with a pronounced grainy texture, so light does not reflect off the form but settles on it, building subtle transitions from grey to blue-black. The effect is raw and refined at once — the object reads like a fragment of lava, a meteorite, or a stone smoothed by time. It looks its best on a pale surface: a console, a mantelpiece, a stone countertop or light wood, where the silhouette carries most strongly. Entirely hand-crafted: the forming, sanding and surface texturing are carried out by the artist personally, so small differences in contour and grain are a natural feature of handmade work.
