"Fragment" — Black Textured Sculpture on a Steel Base

Fragment is a handmade sculpture in the form of an irregular slab with torn, broken edges, raised on a slender steel rod and set into a square black base. The shape suggests a piece torn from a wall, cracked bark, or a fossilised shield recovered from the ground — something that survived, but carries the marks of damage. At the centre of the slab a smooth, glossy form opens up with a soft oval outline, contrasting with the raw granular surface around it; it reads like an interior exposed by a fracture, a core that was never meant to be seen.

The whole piece stays within deep black, yet it plays on the contrast of finishes: the matte, cracked texture absorbs light while the central field returns it with a soft, wet-looking sheen. Because of that the object needs no colour — the material carries the entire narrative. It belongs in interiors with a strong, raw character: a loft, a study, a library, a gallery, or a bright minimalist space where the silhouette can speak. Entirely hand-crafted: the forming, texturing and surface finishing are carried out by the artist personally, so the line of the edges and the pattern of fractures cannot be repeated in any other piece.
