The entire surface is covered by hand in gold leaf, laid down over every irregularity of the ground beneath: cracks, scratches, hollows and knots. Because of that the gold never looks smooth or decorative, but noble and raw, like the patina of time. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis is a work made with light in mind. Placed under a lamp or lit with a spot, it begins to glow with a warm, subdued sheen, while every hollow throws its own shadow, building a second, shifting drawing across the surface. Against a dark background the effect is strongest — the object appears lit from within. It suits intimate, quiet interiors: a bedroom, a study, a living room, a hotel lobby or a gallery space.
